HCS2015 campaign "Save the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show" which is a continuation of the "Be Calm Not Loud" campaign from last year intended to reduce the noise pollution in the surrounding area of Pacifico Yokohama (where HCS2015 will be held).

We have free stickers to distribute to supports this year. If you are from outside of Japan, don't worry. We put the sticker in each and every online order that's shipped out. We'll be posting support pictures again this year via instagram, facebook, twitter and of course our website. Feel free to use the hashtag #hcs2015 and help make sure the word gets out to keep the show going in Yokohama. More specifically, Pacifico Yokohama.

The date has been set for Sunday December 6, 2015.
It was all made possible with your support.
Everyone that values this culture and lifestyle we are in, came together as one.
Thank you very much!

This year, just as we had to do with motorcycles (2 wheeled vehicles), we were told, "The plan worked to keep noise pollution to a minimum and no complaints were received, but something needs to be done about street parking, manner and trash left behind." We will now have to target all vehicles.
I don't believe the street parking and trash left behind was any different than any other day or weekend but on this particular day, HCS becomes responsible for everything.

To take this matter seriously, we will have to work together to make it over this obstacle!
Our catch phrase for 2015 will be "Save the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show". We were able to succeed with the "Be Calm Not Loud" Shizukani campaign so this is not impossible.

We can do it together! Please help us make it happen.
Thank you for your support.

24th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2015 - Date Confirmed!
Date: Sunday December 6, 2015
Location: Pacifico Yokohama

HCS2015 Spotlight has been confirmed! The official announcement is below. As you have have head, the date for the 24th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2015 has been set for Sunday December 6, 2015 at Pacifico Yokohama (same place as last year). The exhibition hall has giving the big OK to hold our event here this year although the same restrictions will apply again. This year's spotlights include 1949-1954 vehicles open to all makes/models and types of customs including but not limited to gassers, lowriders, kustoms and more. The spotlight is called 49-54 Reflections & Expressions. This is surely to be a major highlight of the show. Another spotlight is Camaros A-Go-Go focused on first generation Chevy Camaros. In the motorcycle spotlight, this year will be focused on 1957-1985 Harley-Davidson Sportsters, the highly popular Ironhead engine based bikes. The spotlight is called Exotic Irons. The only catch is, we'll select 20 of the best bikes from the entry spots. The custom paint contest this year will be on skateboard decks in what is titled, "Sidewalk Surfing Bonanza". More information will be announced in regards to the contest. Stay tuned for more!

2015 SPOTLIGHT INFORMATION

49-54 Reflections & Expressions
1949-1954 American cars is the focus of this spotlight. Until now, most spotlights were targeted to specific models or types of vehicles but this spotlight leaves it open to customs, lowriders, gassers and more! There are so many possibilities for '49-'54 makes and models it will surely be major highlight of the show.

Camaros A-Go-Go
First generation Chevy Camaro, from 1967-1969, is the target of Camaros A-Go-Go. There are many Camaro owners and this is their time to shine from stock original, street machines to full custom builds.

Exotic Irons
Within the H-D Sportster lineage, the Ironhead engine dates from '57-'85 and is a model that stands out on its own often overlooked by it big twin brother. There are many that have made the Iron their choice in bike builds and this spotlight will select just 20 to be featured here.

Custom Paint Contest: Sidewalk Surfing Bonanza
The 2015 paint contest base object will be skateboard decks, thus the theme name Sidewalk Surfing Bonanza. You must be present at the show to enter. They deck must be wall mount ready. More information will be announced as we get closer to the show. Please check our website for details.

SAVE THE YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW
We ask for your support and cooperation again this year. Last year's Be Calm Not Loud – "Shizukani" campaign worked perfectly and could not have been possible without your support. The area surrounding the event location is still enforcing their policy so we must continue our efforts to keep the noise pollution down. This means no motorcycle parking in the neighboring area unfortunately. Please use public transportation. The new campaign this year is "Save the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show" and we will be handing out free stickers to spread the word. Thank you for your support and time.

UPDATE: March 29, 2014
From MOONEYES Express Blog by Shige Suganuma

We had a late start this year because of all the negotiations with the convention hall but the 23rd Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2014 (HCS2014) Spotlight has been decided.

1. First, the Main Theme this year is "Enchanted World of Color" Custom Paint. The target for this spotlight is magnificent paint jobs on cars & bikes. If we get a lot of entries for this category, we might group like cars/bikes together.

2. This year is the 25th Anniversary of Crown Picnic, which is an annual outdoor event focused on 1st gen "Kannon" Crowns through 4th gen "Kujira" Crowns. This year, to commemorate the 25th Anniversary we will have the event inside the show at HCS as "The Crown of Crown". We will select up to a maximum of 25 (1st – 4th gen) Crowns.

3. The bike theme for this year is "The Digger Beat". Yes, Diggers. Domestic or foreign, it does not matter. As long as it's a low and long Digger, that's the Spotlight.

4. Last year's theme was toilet seats. This year's Custom Paint Contest is "Sign of the Times" featuring wall-mounted clocks as a base. It can be a homemade clock or one purchased at a store so long as it fits within the display (max) space. (display space/size will be announced later)

5. Japan's very own pioneer Pinstriper, Wildman, is celebrating his 25th Anniversary in 2014. We will hold a "Quarter Century of Wildman" Tribute Show this year with the cooperation of Kustom Kulture missionary The Nash.

And of course, Pinstriping Gathering, Collectivities Alley, Live Bands and much more will also be features at this year's show.

Roughly, I think this is the overall theme for this year.

This should have been shown earlier as it gives a good idea of what kind of building structures are in the area.
It puts it more into perspective of the residential area.

Previous Updates:

We finally received an "approval with conditions" (details below) from the convention hall side (Pacifico Yokohama) for the date of December 7, 2014 (Sunday). Now we can officially announce the date along with the conditions we need to meet. The conditions we have to meet for holding the event seem more like high school regulations. However, the convention hall has been dealing with complaints from around the area for a long time and we were told it has reached its limit. The question now is how much longer it can go on and this year they gave us the ultimatum, "If there are complaints this year, next year will not be possible" which is our final warning.

We have made every effort to make things happen but the final result is that "motorcycles will not be allowed to drive to the convention hall on that day and there will not be any parking available for bikes". We checked with other parking lots nearby and none of them are available. Perhaps we planted this seed and over time the results is "If this year's show is too loud, it's over" but it still feels like returning to high school.
It's now up to us, as the organizer of this event, whether we are able to continue next year or not. The decision also hangs on the spectators that will attend the show.
The continuation (after this year) of our show is on the line and we are all standing on this edge together.
MOONEYES can only to so much to make it happen but in reality it will come down to how conscious participants and spectators are about the situation and about the future of the show. We ask that everyone spread the word and hope we can all make it happen together. Thank you for all your support.

Consider the general public for a moment that don't know about this custom culture and lifestyle we live in. To them, modifying or customizing cars and bikes is illegal. Therefore it's related to outlaw behavior. They most likely don't want the show/event to take place. For us, these shows and events are mandatory. This is part of our culture and lifestyle. If there is something fun (for one group), there will always be outside pressure (from another group) to shut it down. We must look for the right way to continue our fun and what we believe in.
Shige Suganuma

Postscript:
This is not an isolated incident in Japan. It happens all over the world. Let's do our part to handle the situation.
