USA TRIP REPORT & Demo Reel
気が付けばあっという間に９月になり。今年も 12月1日(日) 開催する YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW (以下 HCS) にゲストとして来日する皆さんの撮影をする為に California に Trip してきました。昨年大丈夫だったから今年も大丈夫でしょうと言う事で、また一人で行ってこいよと BOSS より指令がくだり、動画の撮影と写真撮影を超過密スケジュールの中なんとかこなし、先日無事に日本へと帰ってきました。今回撮影した写真はと今年も HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW のゲストをはじめ、ショーの内容を１冊の冊子に詰め込んだ MOON CALL に掲載致します。１１月上旬にはお披露目できるよう現在鋭意制作中！今しばらくお待ちください。

Demo Reel も無事完成しましたので、Report と合わせてお楽しみください。
When I noticed it was already September. I Trip to California to take the photo & film of Guest coming for YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW(HCS) that will be held on December 1st (Sun), again this year. Last year I managed it by myself so, this year will be okay too, Boss command it to me. In the hard tight schedule of photo & film shooting, I managed to do it and safely came back to Japan. The photos taken in this trip will be in the MOON CALL that is full of contents of HCS and the invited guest. We are working hard to release around early November! Please look forward to it.

今年はこれで３度目の USA出張となり、一人で海外に行くのも慣れてきたので、何事もなく MOONEYES USA に到着！と思ったら、MOONEYES USA の Boss Chico-san が 「スーツケースの足が一つないじゃない」 。え！？ そんなまさか！空港で荷物をピックアップしてからはカートに乗せていたので、全然気が付きませんでした....。幸先不安な状態ですが、そんな事を気にしている余裕もなく、到着１時間後には、撮影の予定が入っていたので、時差ボケの頭をフル回転しながら、１件目の撮影に向かいました。
This is the 3rd USA trip for this year and I started to get use to going overseas by myself. When I thought that I safely arrived at MOONEYES USA, MOONEYES USA Boss Chico-san said “Suitcase doesn’t have one foot”. Really!? At the airport I had all my belongings on the cart so, I didn’t realize…… It is bit worry from the beginning but, I don’t have spare time so after an hour from arriving at MOONEYES USA, I had to go for photo shooting so, having some jet lag, I went to the first photo shooting.
Born Free 11 Best Pre-Unit を獲得した、Tom Heavey の 1953 Triumph TR6 "Righteous"。彼はカリフォルニアから遠い地域に住んでいるので、日本に送るコンテナに乗せる為、先に車両がカリフォルニアに届いていました。HCS2017 でゲストで来日した Damin Lujan さんのご自宅に車両がありました。Damin は出かけていてお会いする事はできませんでしたが、お父さんが対応してくださり、無事撮影を終了することができました。

Damin の自宅を後にして Long Beach へ向かいます。Long Beach といえば、そう THE Cut-Rate の Oliver Jones。残念ながら彼は Vacation に出かけていて、お会いすることはできませんでしたが、ご友人の方に手伝って頂き、なんとか撮影をすることができました。Born Free 11 Best in Show を獲得した1937 H-D UL / Knucklehead "Sweet Berry Wine"。ところどころエングレービングされた素晴らしい車両でした。１２月横浜でライドインするのを見るのが楽しみです！

翌日は Van Nuys にある Galpin Auto Sports へ向かいました。今年の Guest Car が決定してる Bathtub は現在急ピッチでレストアが進められていて、この日はまだバラバラの状態でした。日本に送るまで後1か月、なんとか間に合わせると Dave Shuten が言っていたので、楽しみにしていてください。それにしても Dave のファクトリーがすごく大きくなってきて、彼のコレクションも至る所にあり、こっちもミュージアム級の見ごたえがありました。

そしてもう一台 Galpin Auto Sports から Ed Roth's "Tweedy Pie" がやってきます。半世紀前に Ed “Big Daddy” Roth により Built された、Tweedy Pie。彼のピンストライプが随所にみられる歴史的にも一番認知度の高い T-Buckets。エンジンもかかり、走行も可能な状態なので、ライドイン ショーをお見逃しなく！

翌日は MOONEYES USA でお仕事があったので、撮影の仕事は OFF。すこし時間に余裕があったので、以前 Shigeさんから機会があれば行っておいでと場所を教えて頂いていた Oceanic Arts に行ってきました。Hawaiian 雑貨を扱うこちらの SHOP では、大きな Tiki も販売されていて、以前 Hawaii 旅行の帰りに手荷物で木彫りの大きな Tiki を持って帰って来たぐらい Hawaiian 雑貨が好きな僕には夢のような Shop でした。
お昼休みに MOONEYES USA の STAFF Go-san と、どこ行きましょうか？と話していた所、そういえばこないだ OPEN House で来た時に近くにラーメン Shop が出来ていたことを思い出して今回行ってきました。CRAFT RAMEN "HiroNori" というアメリカでも有名なお店らしく、サンフランシスコにもお店があるそうです。そんな人気店がなぜ Norwalk に....。でも食べてびっくり！日本で食べるラーメンと遜色ない味で、ボリュームも満点。Amrican Food に飽きたら、MOONEYES USA に寄りがてらラーメンでも。MOONEYES USA から徒歩5分です。
Next day I had a work to do at MOONEYES USA so, it was a day off for photo shooting. I had some spare time so, I went to Oceanic Arts which Shige-san recommended me to go when I have a chance. This Shop handles Hawaiian goods and there was a large Tiki sold, when I went to Hawaii trip before I bought a large wood Tiki and, for me it was like a dream shop with many Hawaiian goods.
For lunch time, I was wondering where to go for lunch with MOONEYES USA Staff Go-san and, I remembered that there was a new Ra-men Shop. CRAFT RAMEN "HiroNori" it is popular shop in USA and there is another shop in San Fransisco. Why is that popular shop is Norwalk…… When I ate it, what a surprise! The taste was comparable with the Ra-men in Japan and the amount was perfect. When you fed up with the American Food maybe take a Ra-men and while visiting MOONEYES USA. 5 minutes walk from MOONEYES USA.

話を元に戻しましょう。翌日は Automobile Driving Museum に展示してある、1962 Pontiac Grand Prix "Creamsicle" のもとに向かいました。現在のオーナー Celebrity Kustoms の John D'Agostino が撮影の為の準備をしてくれていて、準備万端。Richard Zocchi がプロデュースしたショーカーは見所満載です。

翌日早起きをして Downtown にやってきて、Power Plant の Yaniv Evan と現地集合で待ち合わせ。 1991 Harley Davidson FXR "P16 Wraith” は各所に Yanivさんのこだわりが散りばめられた Motorcycle で、圧倒的なパワーを持ちながら、クラブスタイルというよりも、どことなく Chopper な雰囲気を醸し出した車両。進化する USA の FXR をお見逃しなく！
Next day I woke up early in the morning and came to Downtown and met with Yaniv Evan of Power Plant at the plate. 1991 Harley Davidson FXR "P16 Wraith” has many parts he committed and it has great power but somewhat has an image like Chopper than Club Style. Don’t miss the evolving USA FXR!

午後からは 今年の Born Free Show にエントリーしていたインバイト ビルダー の中で一番気になっていた車両の撮影に行ってきました。1963 H-D Panhead "BLUE Crush". ロングフォークの Chopper をよくビルドしていた彼が、スタイルをガラッと変えて作ったこの車両。写真でも素敵だなと感じていましたが、実物を見るとやっぱりかっこよかったです。Benさんのお仕事はクリエーターらしく、動画や写真もやるとの事で、プロの本職でやられている方の前で、カメラを構えるのはすごく緊張しました。機材の話など、色々とお話もできて楽しい撮影になりました。
翌日は午前中に Salinas で撮影があるため、この日はサンタマリアまで移動し、終了となりました。

It was a fun occasion also having conversation about photographing equipment and other things.

早朝にサンタマリアを出発して、サリナスまでやってきました。若干25歳の Nick Busby。エンジンは Ryan Grossman。ペイントは Ryan や Jason Jesse のペイントを担当している Uncle の Matt Busby が担当し、Born Free Show インバイト ビルダーの最後の一席をかけた、Biltwell のイベントで People`s Choice で勝ち上がった 1962 H-D Panhead "Double Take" が横浜行きのチケットを手に入れるというまさに夢のような話。気さくな性格の青年なので、会場で見かけたら声をかけてあげてください。

サリナスを出発して、2時間程度南下して Arroyo Grande にある Bryan Thompson の元に到着。バーバンクから駆けつけてくれた Alp Racing Design の方も合流し、先日レコードを出したボンネビルの話で盛り上がりました。横浜ではエンジンをかけられる準備をしてくるそうなので、ひょっとしたら Race Bike が花道を駆け抜ける姿を見られるかもしれません。

Alp Racing Design also came from Burbank and we were excited talking about the Bonneville that made a record. For Yokohama, they are preparing the engine so, you might able to see the Race Bike running the run way.

最後に少し撮影風景を。いつも時間に追われて撮影をしているので、こうやってなかなか見返すと、そういえばこの間 USA で撮影してたんだなと思い出します。それにしても暑かった....。初日のスーツケースのトラブル以外は特に問題なく、真っ黒に日焼けして無事帰国しました。

Due to the schedule, I did not manage to film Vintage Technologies / Hawke Lawshe' - 1981 H-D Exposed Shovelhead Longbike "AZUREUS " and ROUGH CRAFTS / Winston Yeh H-D STREET BOB CUSTOM "TARMAC RAVEN" but we got contact that they are ready. HCS2019 Advance ticket is now available! We will promise your that this year will also be a HOT day! Let's meet at Pacifico Yokohama!
