On Sunday 1st of December at Pacifico Yokohama, 28th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW (HCS2019) was held again this year. In 2014 this campaign started from "Be Calm, Not Loud – Shizukani," and then for 2015 "Save The Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show”, for 2016  "Respect Our Kulture - Mamoroh!”, for 2017  "Grow Together – Sodateyou" and for the last year 2018 Cherish Our Kulture – 大切に – Tai setsu ni”. And this will be our 6th year to continue this campaign so, we returned to the origin and worked for "Shi Zu Kani" / "Keep Calm and Stay CQQL”. We would like to express our great gratitude to everyone for cooperating with the campaign and spreading this information.

On the day of the show, we have prohibited the enter by 2-wheels again this year. 5 years have passed from the start of this campaign and as an organizer awareness is getting low that the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW facing difficulty surviving. However, this year was also quiet like the recent years and we were able to hold this wonderful show by everyone’s great support and cooperation. Thank you very much.

This year we do not release YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW 2019 DVD but, we will deliver a Special Movie on MOONEYES Official Youtube Channel and other SNS, full of exciting contents of the show. We will be updating the Special Movie several times so, please do not miss it and we will announce the updates on this website.

This year, from early in the morning, there was a long queue waiting for the Show Open at 8:00 AM.

At the MOONEYES booth in the venue, we have prepared many Limited Item including the VANS x MOONEYES Shoes. There were many people enjoying the shopping until their arms are full of stuff.

When some people were enjoying shopping, at the backyard preparation for the Ride-In Show was proceeded. This year, Galpin Auto Sports restored the Bob Resiners “Bathtub” Show Rod and the Discovery Channel crew in the USA had a close coverage of it. And they followed the Show Rod from the restoring to the debut at the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW. The contents filmed will be broadcast on Discovery Channel soon.

9:00 AM. finally Ride In starts. The first to enter is the last year’s Best of Motorcycle and was popular at last year’s venue, Custom Works Zon’s 2018 BMW! It was CQQL to see the motorcycle that had been exhibited brilliantly last year, running through the runway.

Next comes the HCS2019 Guest. It starts from the Guest Car. From the Galpin Auto Sports, Beau Boeckmann drove the Bob Resiners “Bathtub” Show Rod and came in. 3 months ago, Bathtub was in pieces but, as Dave Shuten said that he will manage to finish it, not only to restore and the Bathtub was able to drove in. People never dream that the day will come, to see the live Bathtub which was built as Show Rod in 1969, could be seen in Japan.

1962 Pontiac Grand Prix "Creamsicle" produced by Richard Zocchi. The evolved clone of Show Car in 1962 appeared on the runway of YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW with the drive by the current owner Celebrity Kustoms / John D'Agostino.

Last but not least for the Car guest is one of the most famous T-Bucket which Ed "Big Daddy" Roth loved, “Tweedy Pie”. Along with Bathtub, Dave Shuten who was in charge of restoration appeared with his drive. We were able to see the wonderful “Tweedy Pie” with Ed Roth’s pinstripe lasting in every part of the car.

Next comes the Motorcycle Guest. The first to come is, Vintage Technologies / Hawke Lawshe' 1981 H-D Exposed Shovelhead Longbike "AZUREUS" which won the glory of the Born Free 11 Invited Builder 1st Place, two years in a row. And then comes the Nick Busby young 25 years old who, won the Born Free’s Biltwell People's Champ Winner and got the ticket to Yokohama. And follows to Bryan Thompson who struck a record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2019 and Alp Racing Design who was in charge of the mechanic appeared with their 1955 Triumph pre-unit / "Arrow Racer". Everyone probably felt the strong sound of the race car.

The next group entered. Yang Evan of Powerplant who is invited several times ride in with his 1991 H-D FXR "P16 Wraith”. Burn out before the Ride In excited the venue. Then Tom Heavey’s 1953 Triumph TR6 "Righteous" which of the Best Pre-Unit at the Born Free 11 appeared, and people might get some interest in this CQQL Compact Triumph Chopper.

The Last group of Ride In. First comes Oliver Jones of THE Cut-Rate and his 1937 H-D UL Knucklehead "Sweet Berry Wine" which won the Best in Show at Born Free 11. It was a motorcycle that changes the style from the past few of ROUGH CRAFTS came in with his H-D STREET BOB CUSTOM "TARMAC RAVEN”. The Milwaukee Eight equipped with the latest 4 valve head Street Bob based custom able to find new custom style. And the last one is Ben "THE BOOG" Zales / 1963 H-D Panhead "BLUE Crush”,  simple and beautiful 60’s style Chopper that reminiscent Dean Lanza attracted many people’s eyes.

After the Ride-In, there was an introduction by all the guests and a photo session and Show Started!

At the VANS booth, we had the VANS x MOONEYES collaboration Shoes again this year and we also had a collaboration T-shirt. People who purchased the VANS shoes got the lottery ticket and MOONEYES "Little Guy" Key Chain Lottery was popular for the whole day.

Again this year, Max Schaaf of 4Q CONDITIONING was invited to the booth and exhibited the Max Schaaf vol. 2 “4Q FOREMAN” and sold. The motorcycle “4Q Bike” which was the guest for 2008 was also exhibited and many people were stopping by.

At the Hot Wheels Collectors Japan Convention booth, it was especially crowded with people from overseas. Wildman Ishii designed 71 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon was sold. There were also Custom Car Contest and Downhill Race and busy from the start to end.

The Porkchop Garage which sold Porkchop Garage x Pabst Blue Ribbon x MOON Equipped Triple Collaboration Coach Jacket and, Porkchop Garage x MOON Equipped collaboration items. The Valley Auto’s HOT ROD which was exhibited to the next was worth seeing. The Pabst Blue Ribbon has opened in Japan for the first time this year and came to YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW! Various collaboration items were released and it was one of the popular area. At the L.G.T Party and After Party, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer was offered and many people were cheering with the delicious Beer.

At the Harley-Davidson Japan booth, the latest Harley Davidson was exhibited and there was a Talk Show by Dais Nagao who is the H-D designer and many people stop by to listen to his talk.

From the Brixton holiday collection, limited capsule collection was released which collaborated with one of the brands that represents American Car Culture, Chevy(The Decades of Chevy™）. This collaboration item and, a painter working worldwide “GEN” of LOVE EAR ART and BRIXTON collaboration item was released. Next to the BRIXTON booth, there was LOVE EAR ART booth and “GEN” painted Shovelhead was exhibited.

Silver Accessory Shop that is located in London, THE GREAT FROG appeared at the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW! THE GREAT FROG x MOONEYES collaboration rings were released. A designer Reino Lehtonen-Riley also came to Japan and exhibited his Motorcycle.

Swisstrax which offers the modern garage flooring. They have set up guest cars and motorcycles and, many of other Show Car and Motorcycle booth's flooring. Many business negotiations were held on the day of the show.

At the HCS2019, 4 Bands excited the venue. Elcaminos who performed at INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE, on the stage Oh! Sharels, The Minnesota VOO DOO MEN and Jackie and the Cedrics showed their performance. When the LIVE started many people came around the main stage and got really lively.

The 28th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW was a day full of enthusiasm and it was a quick day from OPEN to Close. Event Report will continues.
